II. Reading:

Study the 30th SEA Games final medal tally and standing table below, then fill in the blanks with a name of a country, a number or a word.

The 30th Southeast Asian Games were held in the Phillipines from the 30th November to 11 December, 2019. This was the 4th times the Phillipines hosted the Games, including in 1981, 1991, 2005 and 2019. The Games really became a festival which impressed sports enthusiasts with its high spirit: solidarity, cooperation for peace and development.

Athletes from (1)___________ participating countries competed in 56 sports with 529 events. There were the Phillipines, Vietnam, Laos, (2)___________, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Timor-Leste. 1,784 (3)___________ medals were won. The Phillipines and Vietnam was the two nations that had participants who were presented with the Most Outstanding Athletes Titles in Athletics and Weightlifting. Especially, the Vietnamese Women’s Football team successfully defended the SEA Games title. This was the 6th times they stood on the highest podium. Vietnam and Indonesia played in the Men’s Football Final. Our national team won the gold medal with the final score 3-0, which was a great success for both the talented coach Park Hang – seo and our hero footballers after 60 years expecting for this victory. Vietnamese competitors performed excellently and won a lot of gold medals. 

We hope that Vietnamese athletes keep on practicing intensively in order to achieve more success in the 2022 Asian Games in  Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China from 10 to 25 September.
